Welcome to Rescript Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy
What we tell ourselves shapes how we think, feel and act, and dysfunctional self-talk can hold us back from living as well and as fully as we'd like to. Reframing unhelpful beliefs about the world and ourselves can improve our mood, work performance and relationships. But it isn't blind optimism or false hope that we want. According to psychologist Martin Seligman, what we need is "flexible optimism – optimism with its eyes open." At Rescript Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, evidence-based hypnosis helps you use your imagination and memory to engage more deeply with this very powerful form of optimism, while cognitive behavioural therapy helps you solve vexing life problems, and guides you towards accepting and respecting the reality of your present circumstances.
What is Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy?
Cognitive behavioural therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach that challenges and changes unhelpful beliefs, thoughts and behaviours. Hypnosis induces a state of deep, relaxed concentration, so you can engage in imagery work to assimilate and activate suggestions for positive change in an effective, practical and meaningful way. Mindfulness techniques help you improve emotional regulation, develop an attitude of non-judgemental acceptance, and become more present in the here and now. Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy combines these three modalities to help you break free from unhealthy mindsets and habits, so you can live a healthier, happier and more purposeful life.

Hello! I'm Michele, a cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist who's committed to helping you overcome negative habits and live in better alignment with your values, wants and needs. I’ve lived in Singapore, Perth, London, and Boston, and am now living in Hong Kong. I have a Diploma in Evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy from The UK College of Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy, and am an accredited practitioner with the National Council for Hypnotherapy and the General Hypnotherapy Register. I abide by the professional Code of Ethics of these professional bodies. I am a student member of the British Psychological Society and I attend clinical supervisions and peer support supervision groups to ensure the therapy you receive is as effective as possible.
How I Got Here
As a teenager, I had a mental health crisis that resulted in a ten-year long recovery journey where I sought help from different mental health professionals practising in diverse modalities. In my early twenties, while studying journalism in London, I wrote a book about adolescent mental health, which was published by London publisher, Chipmunka. I’ve worked as a journalist and editor, and am also a biographer and short fiction author. I have written articles about mental health for websites and magazines such as Psychologies UK. I was a volunteer at the Singapore Institute of Mental Health and at homeless shelters in London and Boston, and am presently completing a Master of Science in Psychology. Through my journey, I found cognitive behaviour therapy and hypnosis to be two of the most practical and effective approaches for bringing about deep and long-lasting positive change. This led to my diploma studies in evidence-based cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy. Working towards optimal mental health, personal mastery and creative fulfilment has been a powerful and rewarding adventure for me. My experience with therapy has provided me with useful psychological insight, and my own past struggles give me immense empathy for the difficulties my clients face. I am also a Performance Thought Leader with mindfulness summit Inner Leadership.
How I Work
As a creative writer, I know that the stories we tell ourselves have a powerful impact on how we relate to the world and to our loved ones. Sharing and reframing these stories in a confidential, emotionally safe and intellectually stimulating setting can help us discover solutions to problems we feel powerless over. I use cognitive behavioural and mindfulness training to help you increase your self-awareness, self-efficacy, and problem-solving skills. I use hypnosis to induce a state of deep, focused absorption so you can engage your inner resources to overcome the obstacles in your life and achieve your goals.
Finding the right therapist requires a little providence and it’s important that there’s a good fit between therapist and client. If you’d like to know if I'm right for you, contact me for a 15-minute phone consultation.
Where I Work
I am presently relocating from Hong Kong to Portland, Oregon and am only seeing clients online through Zoom or Skype.
Michele’ style was perfect for me. I felt completely at ease from the moment we met. Michele had the perfect combination of professionalism, empathy and EQ. She left me feeling reassured, excited and positive about how I would tackle my challenges, and she has gifted me with visualisation and CBT tools that I can use for the rest of my life. Michele’s ability to seamlessly combine CBT with hypnotherapy was incredible. After just three sessions, I feel like a different and stronger person. – Sophie
I had a wonderful hypnotherapy session which helped me increase my focus and deal with my anxieties around studying. Michele guided me into a state of total relaxation, and as I was in that state, she gave me solutions that I could use in my everyday life to cope with my inability to concentrate and my fears around studying. I would highly recommend seeing Michele for anxiety-related issues. – KookHee A.
Michele really helped me to relax and see my issues around relationships and anxieties from a calm, neutral perspective. I've been in therapy before, but I found Michele so easy to talk to, and her approach was really well-educated, yet very empathetic to my individual needs. Hypnotherapy was new for me, but with her expert guidance, it seemed so easy, and I really gained strength and insight after each session. I'd recommend Michele to anyone interested in CB Hypnotherapy – Vince T.
Michele’s sessions are thorough and goal-oriented. She helped me understand the root of my problem, and therapy with her made it easier for me to adopt better behaviours. She also has the most soothing voice! – Christine Y.
Michele helped me with my primary goal of coping with chronic insomnia. She gave me exercises I could practice on my own, which helped me get back to sleep when I awake in the middle of the night. She has a very calming presence and I trust her absolutely. Thank you Michele! – Karling H.
Michele has a calm and gentle manner which put me at ease straight away. I felt very comfortable during the sessions with her. I was able to shed light on some longstanding problems and, with Michele's help, develop a practical plan to help me overcome them. I was very satisfied with the outcome of our sessions and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her. – Hazel S.
